Prototype Tabei.

Findings

Due to how the elastics are placed along the spine, I can reduce the spine width by 10mm, 5mm on each side. This provides a 5mm gap, the same as the top and bottom of the spine. Will help to reduce material use and ensures a nice experience.

Tabei prototype was successful! The sizing worked great based on my first run. There’s a possibility I could shrink the width by another 10mm, as there’s a 1cm gap on the covers, although that may just be because it’s paper and bends more sharply. Will run a test with leather to confirm.
